Packaging Tips: How to Safely Ship Your Apple Device to Boss Macs
To ensure your device reaches us safely and without damage, please follow the packaging guidelines below. Whether you have the original Apple box or not, all MacBooks, iMacs, and other devices must be shipped inside a strong outer box.
Proper packaging helps protect your device during courier transport and greatly reduces the risk of damage.
📦 General Packaging Guidelines
-
Use a strong corrugated cardboard box, preferably double-walled.
-
Choose a box that is at least 5 cm larger on all four sides of a MacBook
-
The box height should be 10–15 cm taller than a MacBook
-
Even if you have the original Apple packaging, place it inside a larger outer box for added protection.
-
Never use newspaper as a packaging material.
-
Wrap your device in at least 8 cm of thick bubble wrap wherever possible.
-
If bubble wrap is unavailable, use high-quality packing peanuts or similar cushioning.
-
Pack accessories separately to avoid them coming into contact with the device.
-
Place the device in the centre of the box, surrounded by protective padding on every side.
🖥 iMac Packaging Tips (Important) The original box with the original filler is recommended.
iMacs are heavier and more fragile, so extra care is needed:
-
Ensure the weight is supported by the main body of the iMac, not the stand.
The stand can bend or snap if it takes the weight during transit. -
Use polystyrene corner protectors to prevent the iMac from damaging itself under its own weight.
-
Add a thick protective layer in front of the screen to prevent cracks or the glass falling out.
-
Use a box with extra space (10 cm each side + 20 cm height) and plenty of padding.
🖥 Mac Pro Packaging Tips
-
Do not rely on the handles to support the weight of the device.
They can bend easily if weight is pushed upward from below. -
Add protective padding both at the top and bottom of the unit.
-
Ensure the device cannot move or shift inside the box.
📦 Helpful Tip for Large Boxes
For heavier shipments (especially iMacs or Mac Pros):
-
Use a box with a carry handle, or create one using rope or strong duct tape.
This helps couriers keep the box upright during handling. -
Make sure any handles are strong enough to hold the full weight of the package.
⚠️ Important Note
These guidelines are recommendations we use when shipping our own items.
While following them greatly reduces the risk of damage, we cannot guarantee the device will arrive safely. The stronger the box and the more protective padding you use, the better the chances of safe delivery.
